Let's go Line Dancing!

How do I start?

The Basics

Some people can jump out on the dance floor and start learning dances in a crowd. They just get to a dance floor.

If you're not quite that adventurous then learning a little about what to expect can help get you comfortable enough to get out and go!

Practicing a few basic steps at home can help you understand what the instructor means when they say "grapevine left" or "anchor step".

Lessons

Many dance saloons have dance instructors that teach early in the night before the dance floor opens.

These teachers often hold dance classes outside the bar in local VFW halls, church fellowship areas, or even a park pavilion.

Dancers in the dance community are welcoming and open. Let's get you out there!

Dance Halls & Saloons

Finding a place to dance can sometimes be difficult. Some locations with “Saloon” in the name do not play music for country dancing. Some locations that are labeled nightclubs are sometimes great dance halls.

Knowing which places have a large dance floor and a good band on the same night takes research. Let’s make it a bit easier for you!

How about a list of bars that have a large dance floor? How about a list of their upcoming live bands? It’s time for a great night out!

Community and more

The world of country western dancing brings many diverse people together. Brought together by a love of dancing, everybody wants to have an enjoyable evening.

A community implies a system of socially accepted manners and a common language. What are some of the most common dances? How should I act or not act on the dance floor? What does everyone wear? Let’s take a deeper dive!
